Finishing Robot System Sanding and Polishing System

A robot system dedicated to finishing filled with Yamaha's craftsmanship.
This is a robot system specializing in precision finishing, whose automation has been difficult to date. Provided with the expertise cultivated through musical instrument making and the craftsmanship of skilled workers, laborsaving is realized for processes that require high accuracy such as sanding and polishing.

Features of Finishing Robot Systems

A robot reproducing human senses

The finishing process carried out by people “depending on their senses” is reproduced with our proprietary control function and software.

Load feedback control

When machining with such a tool as buff and a brush, the state of the tool is sent as feedback in real-time to automatically correct the machining path and speed. This prevents the inadequacy of machining due to wear and tear.

Offset/rotation speed control

When machining with a sanding belt or non-woven belt, the offset value and rotation speed are automatically corrected. This prevents the inadequacy of machining due to paper or wheel wear and tear.

Thrust control

Not affected by the shape of the workpiece or the angle of the tool, this control function makes the thrust constant in any posture. Any thrust at any location can be set.

Teaching support software

To reproduce human senses, it is necessary to check the finishing quality in teaching and input and modify data. Our proprietary software is available so as to reduce the above load.

Business Flow

  1. Consultation with customer about conditions

    • Workpiece
    • Machining conditions
    • Purpose of machining, and others
  2. Technical consideration/trial rough estimate based on manual machining

    • Finishing tools
    • Robot type (workpiece/tool grasping)
    • Peripheral
  3. Machining capacity verification using actual equipment (cost charged)

    • Quality
    • Cycle time
    • Robot adaptability (Robot/tool drive mechanism/adaptation control/equipment specifications confirmation)
  4. Proposition of system specifications/final estimate

    • Workpiece loading/unloading methods
    • Safety interlocks
    • Operation panels
  5. Order received/manufacturing start
  6. Transport and adjustment
  7. Periodic inspections/after care
